Voiceovers And WoVO Con III – The Not Silent Blog 4/19/16

Here I sit in the United Club at the airport, waiting to fly home to my Beloved New Jersey from WoVO Con III in Las Vegas. I just hugged goodbye my dear friend Liz De Nesnera and her fiance Steve, who gave me quite possibly the coolest gift ever:

It’ll make sense later. But first, slide show…!

This is the view from the elevator of the Tropicana. BTW that isn’t really New York. I’m like 90% sure.

That’s my buddy Sara Waters striking a pose. BTW she builds awesome websites so you should hire her, right now.

That’s WoVO con president and good friend Dave Courvosier addressing the troops. If he looks familiar he’s a Las Vegas news anchor. He’s important.

That’s me leading a session on how to take all those notes you took at a conference and turn it into an action plan. It was fun and good.

I walked the Las Vegas Strip, ate at amazing restaurants, and gambled. And yes, I won.

The conference itself was fantastic. To quote their website,

The World-Voices Organization (WoVO) is a non-profit, member-driven international association of voice actors. Through chapters and national programs, WoVO works to inform and educate about best practices, standards for ethical conduct and professional expertise. We communicate voice acting’s importance to the public and business leaders and affirm the power of professional quality voicing and recording, and inspire through articles, portfolios, recognition of achievement and excellence. We represent and advocate for the profession and stimulate discussion within the industry through events, social media and websites.

In other words, they’re keepin’ in real when it comes to best practices for both voice talent and clients. The seminars were top-notch and run by many movers & shakers in the voiceover industry. Everyone was professional, friendly, and actively contributing to the experience.

TIP OF THE WEEK

Now for the socks.

Liz attended my session and later was compelled to get me the aforementioned socks. Why?

In my session we talked about how hard it is to be an entrepreneur who works from home, has no supervisors, and has to figure it out as they go along. Time mismanagement, lack of focus, and especially procrastination are daily challenges for many of us. The socks were a play on that. I look forward to wearing them as a reminder to get s**t done not later, but now!

NEWS AND NOTES!

My next Edge Studio Business and Money 201 webinar will be this Thursday April 21 @8PM EST. The subject: “Paperwork”. We’re gonna talk about, well, paperwork! Click here to sign up.

HAPPY HAPPYS!
