An Emergency FaffCamp Announcement! – The GKN Weekly Update 6/30/14

Hello and Happy Fourth of July Weekend! Going anywhere fun?

NEWS AND NOTES!

To continue the celebration of “June is Audio Book Month”, let’s get controversial! This week I’m giving away one free download of the audiobook “Common Nonsense: Glenn Beck and the Triumph of Ignorance” by New York journalist Alexander Zaitchik. All you have to do is comment on this blog entry. The first one to comment wins! BTW you need an Audible or Amazon account to download the audiobook. Good luck!

Normally I post my blog on Tuesdays but I have exciting news that just can’t wait. FaffCamp 2 is coming!!!

The camp so nice I’m going twice!

It will be held Friday March 20th through Sunday March 22nd in San Antonio, Texas. FaffCamp is a very special voiceover conference and I’ll tell you why…

To quote the FaffCamp Website, “Faff Camp is a peer-to-peer professional development conference for working voiceover pros (not just voice talents, voice actors, and narrators, but all pros who do work related to voice overs). It’s participant driven and highly interactive, just like its sister event FaffCon. But most of the agenda is set in advance, which makes it possible for us to welcome a larger group.”

In other words, anyone in the voiceover industry can attend and you don’t have to be a gristled veteran! Non-voice talents are welcome as well; including producers, agents, casting directors, and engineers. There will be lots for you to do, see, and learn, as well as benefit from invaluable networking opportunities! There will be many high-quality presenters and I myself will be pitching in with a seminar.

All that aside; the friends that you make, the heartfelt sense of comradery, and the opportunity to be a part of something truly special makes FaffCamp a must.

TIP OF THE WEEK: Sign up for FaffCamp (duh!) Registration starts TODAY (Monday June 30th at 12PM EST). Just go to www.FaffCamp.com to register. But don’t do it yet! Read the next part of the Tip first…

If you register and use the promo code VT8987248 you get $25 off your registration fee! What’s even funner-er is that when you register, you yourself get a promo code that you can share with others that gives you AN ADDITIONAL $25 off every time they use it (14 times max). Neat, huh? Drop me a line if you have any questions…

QUOTE OF THE WEEK:

Just remember: it’s not a skirt. The last man what called it a skirt got kilt.

STUFF!: I can’t even begin to tell you what an impact FaffCon and FaffCamp has had on me both professionally and personally. It’s educational, inspiring, and fulfilling in every sense. If you haven’t gone, go. If you have gone, go back!

From Tom Dheere’s apartment, this is Tom Dheere: GKN News…
