What I Learned From Producing a Comic Book – The GKN Weekly Update 3/3/15

Hello and Happy Unique Names Day and Day of Unplugging! I remember a time when I made it a point to not turn on my computer on a Sunday. Now I can’t go an hour without being online via my desktop, smart phone, tablet, or TV. Times have changed, haven’t they…?

I love comic books. I have since I was a kid. Like many adults, I still read & collect them. I only collect a couple of titles and it’s not a fetish like it is for some, but I must say that I do get a bit giddy when I sit on the couch and dive into the world of my favorite superheroes’ latest adventure. It’s a sort of intellectual bubble gum for me and it gives me great pleasure.

With that in mind, today is a special day for me. Today is the day that we officially begin the marketing campaign for our own comic book: Agent 1.22!

WhoIsAgent122_web

We started working on this as a web series back in 2007. When we discovered that web series’ can’t be effectively monetized, we decided to produce a comic book series. After almost five years, we are now ready to bring Agent 1.22 to life!

Agent 1.22 is the epic science-fiction comic book tale of a female cyborg operative who tries to save Earth from invasion while discovering her true self.

Issue #0 will premiere May 2015, just in time for Free Comic Book Day. We will be making appearances at various comic book stores that day as well as comic book conventions in 2015 and beyond.

If you wanna do the social media thing, you can check out Agent 1.22 on our website, our blogFacebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram.

TIP OF THE WEEK: Man, have we learned a lot over the past eight years. It turns out there are many parallels between being a voice talent and producing a comic book:

Both must be aesthetically pleasing.

Both must tell a good story.

Both must cultivate a good reputation and consistently produce quality content.

Both require a significant investment on both a financial, ergonomic, and educational level.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK:

STUFF!: There are many of you who have supported Agent 1.22 since the beginning and for that we are eternally grateful. This has been a very long journey and we hope you enjoy the comic!
