Perception is a funny thing.
It influences your behavior more than you realize, especially how you market yourself as a voice actor.
Your marketing strategy reflects your perception of yourself, your knowledge of how the voiceover industry really works, and your place within the voiceover industry.
Voice actors who perceive themselves as an employee or a starving artist look for jobs. They think short term. If you perceive & market yourself like an employee or a starving artist, you will be treated like an employee or a starving artist.
Voice actors who perceive themselves as a business look for clients. They think long term. If you perceive & market yourself like a business, you will be treated like a business.
TIP OF THE WEEK
No matter how long you have been pursuing voiceovers, your marketing is never smooth sailing. You must regularly examine your perception of yourself, the voiceover industry, and your relationship with the voiceover industry. If you do that, you can adjust your marketing as needed to keep both your platform and content fresh & relevant.
Always market your value, but not just about how nice you sound. Market how you can deliver the goods as a business. You will be amazed at how your perception will change for the better!
