Hello there, fellow GKN’ers! Can you believe that August is finally here? It showed up like a melting piece of butter that slides over to the other side of the pan. I don’t know exactly what means but it’s what just popped in my head so deal with it…
Today I start recording what I think will be the awesome-est audio book I will ever narrate: The Science of Battlestar Galactica!!! I am SUPER pumped about this since I am a major BSG fan. I watched the original series when I was a kid and devoutly watched every episode of the new series as well as the prequel “Caprica”. The books explains in quite humorous detail the gadgets, guns, ships, etc. of the TV show. Everything from cloning to chemistry to the urgent need to pee in micro-gravity. It’s gonna be fun on a galactic bun!
So I contacted Kevin Grazier, the co-author and science guru of BSG. He was very kind and even posted about me on Facebook. Here’s one of the replies from a BSG fan, in reference to me being the narrator:
“Too bad it wasn’t someone cool…”
Ouch!
TIP OF THE WEEK: Everyone knows that I am not, shall we say, particularly cool, but to hear it out loud sucks out loud! I totally understand where the fan is coming from, though. They want someone from the cast to narrate it, and I don’t blame them. It’s easier for a listener to be engaged if someone they know & love is narrating it.
So here’s my advice to myself: suck it up! Do the best you can and don’t worry if the fans don’t think you’re a part of the Battlestar Galactica family because you are now! Well, you’re at least the goofy second cousin that everyone avoids at the reunion…
QUOTE OF THE WEEK: Man is only as faithful as his options. Chris Rock
STUFF!: I finally saw “The King’s Speech” on Netflix. What a wonderful film! Colin Firth certainly deserved that Oscar. Now I can’t get “Allegretto” out of my head!
