Hello and Happy Pharmacist Day and Skeptics Day! Hmm, I’m not sure about that second one…

NEWS AND NOTES!

So, 2015 is here…

(looks around)

Feels about the same, doesn’t it? I find fascinating the emotional arcs that people go through when a new year starts. For some it’s excitement…

2015 is gonna be awesome! I’m finally gonna lose that weight I’ve resolved to lose at 11:59 on New Year’s Eve for the past 12 years! Hey, pass me another doughnut…

…while for others it’s relief…

Man, 2014 sucked. That was the worst year ever. I guess I’ve got nowhere to go but up. Are there any doughnuts left…?

…but for most it’s just…

When the hell is The Walking Dead coming back on? And where did all the damn doughnuts go?

Doughnuts

New year, old habits.

Let’s build some new habits this year, ay? Healthy, productive habits that will actually stick. Habits that will get you closer to becoming the person you want to be.

TIP OF THE WEEK: Good habits are created by building two things: Systems of Thought and Systems of Execution. How do you build good Systems of Thought? First, you need to examine how you think and decide what is truly important to you. Easier said than done, I know. A good way to do that is to do that values exercise I talked about a few blogs ago. Another good way is to craft a Mission Statement with those values in mind. It’s hard to do and you’ll discover things about you that you may not like, but it’s what you need to do to get you out of your own way. And that’s what holds most of us back, isn’t it!

Once you have good Systems of Thought in place, the Systems of Execution tend to take care of themselves, but we’ll talk about that next time…

QUOTE OF THE WEEK: (ladies, is this true?)

STUFF!: In my next blog, we’ll talk about how to apply those newly found Systems of Thought to your goals and Action Plans. From Tom Dheere’s apartment, this is Tom Dheere: GKN News…
